This water vending machine is in Mulhahera, Gurgaon in the middle of a community area. Drinking water is available 24 hours per day for Rs. 1 per litre. Swajal is an attempt to provide people with pure water in the villages and illegal settlements in India. In a country where water is a rare commodity, Advait Kumar noticed the lack of access laborers have to drinking water. In designing the Swajal vending machine, it solves two problems: power cuts and access to drinking water, thus even with the grid not being operational, purified water can still be available.
