A tiny baby new-hatched Olive Ridley Turtle struggles to get out of the sand, shortly after hatching in its sandy nest along the Odisha shore of the Bay of Bengal, at Rushikuliya / Rushikulya and Gahirmatha beaches. In what marks the end of the breeding season spent in India, and the beginning of their new lives, young hatchlings of Olive Ridley Turtles dig their way out of their sandy nest holes as they hatch, and quickly make their way to the cold waters of the Bay of Bengal, to make their way in a big bad world. Dangers lurk in the waters, and eventually only 1 in 1000 turtles will survive, but the dangers on land are even greater.
