1995 the real American thing has a new dream, India a Rs 300 crore or 100 million dollar denim market which is expanding at an estimated rate of 30 percent. A market that is flush with unbranded names. Local brands like flying machine, the numero uno and foreign labels pay and Wrangler. Into this no holds barred arena now enters the world's major US based jean brands Lee and the Pioneer levi-strauss coming. The Lee range was launched in bangalore last month by its Indian partner Arvind Fashions Limited, a subsidiary of Arvind mills limited. The state of the art facility on the outskirts of the metropolis with a production capacity of 500,000 pairs of jeans per annum is all set to jack up output to a million pairs next year.
