Flowers are the most beautiful part of a plant. Flowers not only look beautiful, they also serve many functions. Flowers are eaten as food, used to make perfumes, but most importantly, they help the plant in reproduction. Did you know that most flowers have both male and female parts? The anther and pollen grains form the male parts of a flower. The style, stigma, and the ovary form the female parts of a flower. For plants to be able to reproduce, pollen grains from the anther enter the ovary through the stigma. This is called pollination. There are different ways in which pollination can occur. Wind carries the pollen grains to the ovary. Insects like bees and butterflies can also do so. Pollination also occurs through water! Once the pollens enter the ovary, the flower matures into a fru
