L K Advani talks about the framing of Indian Constitution and partition after independence, he said, When the Indian Constitution was framed the word was used very often in the course of the debates but I regarded as significant that the word doesn't occur anywhere in the Constitution as originally framed and finalized in 1950 the word has been introduced into the preamble only in 1976 during the emergency. The only relevant interpretation of secularism in the Indian context could be in the background in which India got independence namely the country was divided into two on the basis of areas which had a Muslim majority forming part of Pakistan and both having Hindu Majority forming part of India.
