Man digging a hole to place turtles into a safe and secure beach environment, for them to hatch, as part of a conservation programme. By exposing their eggs to dangerous or crowded beaches, the turtles often lead to failed breeding, and their young ones get killed by predators or human beings before they can safely reach the sea. By extracting the eggs and then placing them in safe zones, the eggs have a higher chance of turning into live turtles that actually survive into adulthood. The turtles in the Indian ocean face considerable threat from predators and their numbers have also dwindled due to habitat degradation. However, steps are being taken to protect the species.
