The issue of rice export is in discussion not because of premium Basmati and its patent but the general type which is provided to people below poverty line on the basis of public distribution system. The fixed price of this rice is Rs. 5,650 per tonne whereas Parboiled rice is Rs. 6,000 per tonne and the rate is the agenda of discussion. "The problem is that the rice export we are talking abut is not a good quality of rice this is the reason that we have to sell it on a low price." Analyst have different opinion on the basis of current economic scenario of the country. "The government has lower the export price that the procurement price is higher than the level of international price and if you are selling on 50% subsidy then the loss is of government."
