Bateshwar temple complex along the Chambal badlands, a beautiful ancient set of monuments, as filmed in the 1990's. Bateshwar town was the birth place of ex Prime Minister Vajpayee along the Yamuna river system. A historian relates a story to us: "This huge bell... this Shivling is in three parts. Thieves stole part of it. But they could not dig it out. A beautiful series of stairs leads up to the older temple complex. An aerial view of the plains around the Bateswar complex nearly a half century ago.
