At the Nyatu, which is a resting place in the middle of fields or forest, there are smooth stones like this placed appropriately so that the weapons that the men carry to the forests for hunting or other purposes can be sharpened. The Apatani, or Tanii, are a tribal group of people living in the Ziro valley in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh in India. However more Apatanis live outside this valley, making the total population approximately 60,000 all over the state.
