About the opera: Orfeo (1607) by Claudio Monteverdi Prelude: Serene Philip (La Misica), Vakkom Sajeev (Samudra Performing Arts) Orfeo is the very first opera in the story of Western Classical Music. Sung in Italian, it tells the story the mythological figure or Orpheus, who travels to the underworld to bring his wife back to the world of living, but breaking his promise to the underworld God of not turning around to her proceed, he loses his forever.
