Lovely pink insides to these waxy white flowers that grow on the moister parts of our hillsides, mostly on the north faces. This plant is known as Shilphara / Sheelphara in Sanskrit for so strong are its roots that it is said they can penetrate rocks and crack them open! Also known as Bergenia stracheyi or Saxifrage in English, this is a lovely spring-time flowering hillside plant that flowers in the middle Himalaya. Seen at the Wilderness Orchard and botanical gardens in Uttarakhand.
