Ustad Matloob Hussain Khan is an exponent of the Bhendi Bazaar Gharana of Mumbai that originated in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. This Gharana was founded by Ustad Aman Ali Khan in the early 20th century. Ustad Matloob Hussain Khan has trained under gurus Mr NR Bhattacharya, Mr Anil Dhar, Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. His first important public concert was in 1961 in New Delhi at the Presidential Palace for the visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. He has travelled to over 20 countries to share Indian music. He has frequently appeared in programmes of classical music on radio and television and released CDs of his music in India and Germany.
