Piglets suckling greedily! The women of Ziona's family are occupied with rearing pigs which are the source ofa major portion of the family's earnings. TlangnuamBaktawng village and Mizoram as a whole, is a mountainous region. Hence, farming is not easy on the steep slopes. However, pig farming plays an important role in the livelihoods of small farmers. Besides, piggery is the best source of meat productionas opposed to the various other livestock species. The family even utilizes the faecesand remains as manure and natural fertilizer for their vegetable farms. It is not an easy task rearing pigs in the family's piggery farm.
