Safdarjung Tomb and Lodhi Garden - Delhi

Safdarjung's Tomb is the second garden tomb (patterned after the much larger Humayun's Tomb nearby) with a marble mausoleum in New Delhi, India. It was built in 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style, and was described as "the last flicker in the lamp of Mughal architecture".The monument has an ambiance of spaciousness and an imposing presence with its domed and arched red brown and white coloured structures. It is not a Mughal emperor's tomb but that of the Prime Minister of the Mughal Empire when Momhammed Shah Ahmed Shah ascended the throne of the Mughal Empire in Delhi in 1748. Safdarjung was made the Chief Minister of the empire with the title of Wazir ul-Mamalk-i-Hindustan. At that time the empire was on decline as their rule extended only to North India.
