Is it the shrill voice or the mother tongue influence, this Indian lady sure does make heads turn. She seems very determined singing 'We shall overcome' first in English dialect, then Assamese and later in Hindi. This footage was taken in a School event in Mahisashan near Kaziranga, Assam. The lyrics is originally derived from Charles Tindley's Christian gospel song "I'll Overcome Some Day" (1900), and opening and closing melody from the 19th-century spiritual "No More Auction Block for Me". This song was made popular in the 1960's by Joan Boez during many civil right marches.
