Ghanta Ghar in the city of Meerut some 70 km from New Delhi is a historic location in the history of India. As India celebrates the 74th Independence Day, the clock tower is decorated in lights with the outlines of Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and the National Emblem. The streets are decorated with Indian tricolour flag. The Ghanta Ghar is recognised as the location where the Revolt of 1857 started. The timepiece installed in 1914 during the British Raj and is still functioning today.
