To rest the handling of the new BMW X7 SUV, we took it on a winter drive to Harsil and beyond, in the Gangotri region of upper Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Driving up to Sukhi Top was a challenge as the warmest temperature was -2 degrees Celcius, and the snow was melting on the roads and turning to ice. The X7 handled the tricky terrain and tough driving conditions with great elan. We did not miss our Toyota Land Cruiser at all. So we give top marks to the new X7. There was absolutely no traffic at all, and the roads were a dream, despite the icy conditions when descending from Sukhi Top. The BRO bull dozers had done a great job of clearing snow from the roads, due to the requirements of the Indian Army, this being a border region with China-occupied Tibet.
