The Telugu Desam supremo Mr. N. T. Rama Rao took over as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 12th of December at a public function attended by thousands of party workers and well-wishers at Hyderabad's Lal Bahadur Stadium. The oath of office and secrecy was administered in Telugu by governor Mr. Krishna Kant. A number of non-Congress leaders including Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister Jayalalitha, Orissa Chief Minister Mr. Biju Patnaik was also present on the occasion. The Next Day Mr. Rama Rao met the Prime Minister Mr. P. V. Narasimha Rao at his official residence in New Delhi.
