The spirit of Calcutta to many observers is linked with it's incredible capacity to react to politics to find expressions and show up resistance in battling injustice and exploitation. The political awareness the consciousness the city generates is always centered around a drama of the human condition there is a volatile and passionate edge and events of the city and Calcutta has been termed by many as the city of processions.
