Indian artisans cooks at makeshift kitchen during the annual Saras Mela in Patna, Bihar, India. A 13-day ‘Bihar Gram Utsav Mela’, popularly known as ‘Saras Mela’, opened here on Tuesday under the joint auspices of the ‘Swarn Jayanti Swarojgar Yojana’ (SJSY) and National Rural Livelihoods Mission ( NRLM) at the DAV School ground, BSEB Colony, Rajbansi Nagar. The main aim of the mela, entry to which is free, is to give rural people a platform to showcase their products and get a market for them as well. This mela is being organised in Patna every year since 2005. This mela has a variety of handloom and handicraft items of various states, including wood items of Saharanpur, cotton work of Tamil Nadu, shoes and dress materials of Punjab, famous kantha work of West Bengal, exclusive sarees form
