First holy bath was performed on the occasion of Makar Sankranti during the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad. Naga Sadhus, Mandleshwars, and Akhara Sadhus took a dip into the holy water of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. Many foreigners participated during the Shahi Snan. A western tourist speaks about her experience in Kumbh Mela. She says, "Life is very simple, people are very happy. It is free from a lot of materialism that I experience at home. People are very kind and open-hearted and I am well received everywhere I go. There is a lot of importance of Makar Sankranti during Maha Kumbh and administration has done a lot of security arrangements in which they have succeeded.
