Artists appeal to save Theru Koothu a Tamil folk art from being forgotten

The biggest feature of this festival is to present those folk arts which slowly ending. Folk songs and folk dances attract both national and international audience. On the first day of the festival, Tamil Nadu's folk dance theru koothu was showcased. Theru koothu artists performed a famous Draupadi excerpt from the Indian epic Mahabharata. A committee member says "We are celebrating the Karthik Utsav where cultures and folk dance forms from different areas of India showcased. People of every state dress up in their traditional dress and put up a performance to showcase their cultural arts to maintain unity in the country."
