On 4th of November 1948, Dr Ambedkar introduced a draft constitution in the assembly. Each article of the constitution was discussed threadbare and amended to meet the demands of the majority. The four members from Jammu & Kashmir headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah joined the constituent assembly in June 1949. It was proposed that a preamble should spell out the aims and objective of the constitution, many a suggestion will receive. Mr Subba Rao from Vijayawada wrote a new aim called prosperity may be included with a Sanskrit word. "May the children beget their children and their children beget grandchildren. Let the poor be rich." The preamble spelt out the aspirations, rights and responsibilities of the citizen of India. This footage is part of the broadcast stock footage archive o
