I have a very strong base as you can say grounding is in Carnatic classical music which I have been learning since... I was around 5 - 6 years old and I have learnt veena also very extensively. So I have been learning, learning is a never ending process, so I have been learning all through. So that formed my base and I listen to a lot of varied stuff right from Carnatic music to Jazz to pop to fusion to rock to Hindi film songs to Ghazals to Bhav geet to natya sangeet. I listen to everything that helps me to compose. As solo project that is my own project. Shankar Mahadevan was born on the 3rdof March, 1967 in the Chembur suburb of Mumbai, Maharashtra.
