The Sawai Man Singh Town Hall in the Walled City of Jaipur from where the Rajasthan Assembly used to function till the turn of the century is now converted into a museum with interactive facilities. The imposing Greco-Roman structure, built around 1884, has been lying unused for a decade after the Assembly started functioning from the new building located not far away from the State Secretariat. Jaipur is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan in Northern India. It was founded on 18 November 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amber, after whom the city is named. The city today has a population of 3.1 million.
