Situated adjacent to Rashtrapati Bhavan on Raisina Hill, North and South Block lie on either side of Rajpath. They are one of the most impressive state office buildings of the world. They are also known as the Secretariat Buildings. North Block houses the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Finance while South Block houses the Ministry of External Affairs. On the bases of both buildings, there are stone tablets fixed on the sandstones bases of the buildings on which the names of the architects and builders are inscribed. Both the buildings put together have approximately a thousand rooms, long corridors and inner fountain courts.
