This poor bridge, albeit ancient and supposedly a heritage structure, has been scratched and mutilated by the passage of thousands of buses and trucks over the decades, and the lower part remains heavily damaged, with the upper portion taking on the weight of entire trains. For how long will it stand this onslaught before caving in and causing a tragedy of huge magnitude?
