This insect, likely belonging to the genus Eristalis, lands gently on the flower’s center to feed on nectar and pollen. While feeding, the hoverfly brushes against the flower’s reproductive parts—the stamens and stigma—accidentally collecting pollen grains on its legs and body. When it moves to the next flower, it transfers this pollen, helping in cross-pollination, a vital process for fruit formation.
