Artists from Kerala dressed as Gods and Goddesses participate in Pulikali festival parade in Thrissur. Puli Kali is a colorful recreational folk art performed in Kerala in India. It is performed by artists who entertain people on the occasion of Onam, an annual harvest festival. On the fourth day of Onam celebrations, performers painted like tigers in bright colors dance to the beat of instruments and move along a road in the city of Thrissur. Literal meaning of Pulikali is the 'play of the tigers'. Pulikali festival takes place at the Swaraj Round in Thrissur district of Kerala. Pulikali, or the fun and frolic of tigers, is an event that has become synonymous with the festival of Onam in Kerala. The tigers are not real ones but men dressed and painted as tigers.
