Devotees of Ganesha walk into waist-deep water with the idol of Ganesha on the occasion of Ganesh Visarjan. Devotees take the idols of Ganesha to immerse them in a water body, usually a river. Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the arrival of Ganesha, the god of wisdom in Hindu religion. The ten days celebration of the festival is accompanied by recital of Vedic hymns, fasts, and other religious rituals at home or at a public pandal.
