Since the ice wall is so steep, several ladders have had to be joined together, to facilitate the ascent of the same. The clink of ironmongery! as they ascend this huge phalanx, there is a deep crevasse below them, a danger to be looked out for, and a distinct impediment on the way up the joined ladders!
