A duo of rag pickers in New Delhi segregate the waste as degradable and non-degradable, from a pile of trash on the side of the road. Single use food containers, beverage bottles and cans with waste can be seen as the workers clean it out. The sanitation worker with a single mask and no other forms of protection and sanitary measures cleans out the trash and prepares to sell it to recycling plants. Rag pickers in India form an informal sector and assist the civic bodies in waste management for free. They are unpaid workers mostly and make a living out of the recyclable items that they can sell.
