It was the end of February 2017. The cool beautiful town of McLeod Ganj was bustling with activity. The small population of Tibetan diaspora settled there were busy preparing to bade farewell to the old year and welcome the new one. The New year eve which Tibetans proudly refer to as Losar. Literally, Losar means New Year. Losar is a big festival for this community. It is accompanied by lots of dancing, singing, and merrymaking. And yes, none can miss the varieties delicacies and sweet meats to be served. Recent unfortunate political situations had made the diaspora population wary. This year there wouldn’t be much merrymaking. The essence of a new year and the joy it brings, however, didn’t get dimmed. Losar generally last for fifteen days.
