Kolkata is a hub for Durga Puja for many Hindus across the country. A glimpse of Idols and images at Kumortuli preparing for Durga Puja in Calcutta can be seen. The name “Kumortuli” is derived from the Bengali word “Kumor” meaning a potter and “tuli” meaning locality. The making of the Durga idols always has been a lengthy and strenuous process. The artisans work in a systematic manner to create the most exquisite pieces of artistry. Organised and complex teamwork brings the idols to a state of perfection.
