As the hot summer become distant and winter sets in, people all over India breathe the sigh of relief. Power cuts had become the highlights of the Indian summer 1998. The power ministry has announced plans to ease the power scenario by the year 2010 and figuring high units blueprints, large storage dams to generate peaking power. The major power that India faces today in the power sector is what is called peaking power and peaking power is only available by what is called hydro storage dams and it is considered to be the most effective way of meeting the problem of peaking power. Today we have an imbalance. We are short of 15% of hydropower which is peaking power causing us some major crisis.
