Pranab Mukherjee in older Congress days, speaks of the Congress Working Committee agenda of bringing about participation of women from backward minorities and scheduled castes, through a reservation. Women will be directly elected and some nominated. In 2000 there will be an election in which more women will be brought into the Congress political mainstream.
