A stretch of National Highway 1, also known as the Leh-Srinagar Highway, passes through the high-altitude landscape of Saspol in Ladakh, India. The smooth asphalt road winds through a valley surrounded by barren, rocky mountain slopes typical of the cold desert region. Tall, slender poplar trees line part of the roadside, with a glimpse of a blue water body visible behind them. A brown signboard for Hotel Duke & Restaurant Saspol stands beside the road. A separate blue billboard highlights Ladakh's wildlife and mentions the elusive otter found in clear mountain streams.
