The heatwave sweeping the national capital, with day temperatures touching a 62-year high of 47 degrees Celsius and even night temperature touching 32 degree, is not only affecting human life but also the roads and streets of Delhi. It has led to melted tar on Delhi’s arterial Ring Road. At more than 47 degrees Celsius, the tarred surface of the Ring Road is on the verge of melting altogether, with even the painted zebra stripes going hay-wire! Ring Road, Delhi refers to two chief ring roads, a main one and an outer one in Delhi. The two ring roads have a combined length of 87 km (54 mi).
