Rather ET like in persona, at least from behind, this Garden Lizard sits and contemplates its day ahead. Will it get lucky with lots of insect prey or not? It's a life spent in waiting and watching till the right moment happens! Despite it's dangerous sounding name and visage / persona, the Girgit or Calotes lizard is not just harmless but also useful, as it exterminates insect pests. Rang badal gaye uske girgit ke tarah! Why do people accuse each other of changing colours like a Girgit? The Calotes Lizard has been much maligned by this analogy, for no fault of its own... Look at those lovely dainty toes and feet... What is that interesting reptilian behaviour wherein it raises and lowers its head rapidly, up and down? Indian cities have these bloodsuckers: Girgit lizard is harmless and us
