Groom performs rituals before the wedding asking God's blessings to give health, wealth and prosperity for the new couple in Manipur. WEDDING RITUALS: The groom, his family and many guests goes to bride's residence and they are greeted by three woman at the bride's entrance with a plate covered with banana leaf containing betel nut and betel leaves. They are accorded a warm welcome inside. The groom is seated at a separate enclosure first and after some time to the center of the hall. The bride, adorned in the traditional clothes (Potloi), is now brought to the hall. After some rituals, the bride takes seven circles around the seated groom (amidst the sounds of traditional music) and garlands the groom first and the groom garlands the bride next.
