Delhi, the capital of India, is the seat of many important historical monuments. One such iconic monument located in Delhi is the Qutb Minar—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The minar is 72.5 meters tall and has 379 steps to get to the top. The tower is made of red sandstone and marble. The construction of the Qutb Minar is full of mystery and enigma. Built over close to two centuries, from 1192 CE to 1386 CE it went through various stages of construction. Intended to celebrate the victory of Muhammed Ghori over Prithviraj Chauhan, Qutbuddin Aibak started its construction but only the base of the tower was completed during his lifetime. Later, Qutbuddin Aibak’s son-in-law, Iltutmish added three more levels to the tower during his reign. The Qutb Minar got its fifth and final floor from Firoze
