A muted Ganesh Chaturthi it will be, but the enthusiasm is now not just present in Maharashtra but has become infectious and spread across India. These women in north India have bought Ganesh idols and are heading home with them, to place on their altar and pray to, for the Ganesh Chaturthi leading up to period. The only question is - who will be discard the idol after prayer? Will it be consigned to water, thus distributing cadmium, nickel, manganese and mercury into the water, or will this be done responsibly?
