Arunachal Pradesh is home to at least 26 major and over 100 sub -- tribes, each with its distinct tradition and customs. The majority of the population, comprising of tribes like Adi, Galo, Aka, Apatani, Nyishi, Tagins, Bori, Bokar etc. are rooted to their ancient beliefs and indigenous practices of worshipping the sun and the moon . This religion is known as Donyi-Polo (which literally means sun and Moon). The people of Arunachal Pradesh belong to the Tibeto-Burman stock. Consisting of myriad tribes and sub-tribes, make for an interesting study in human diversity, of culture, practices and lifestyle.
