Celebrated around in the month of March, when Spring is in full swing and the whole Forest is in bloom, Uli, is the greatest festival of the Pawaras, an indigenous forest dwelling tribe, living in the Satpuda mountain range in the Narmada river valley of Maharashtra. Celebrated by dances, wearing special attire made out of bird feathers, animal skins, bamboo, forest fruits and flowers, the festival is also a means to express Art and the creativity of the people. The celebration continues for 10-15 days, with people visiting different villages, dancing day and night. The festival is the centre of people's attention and people often spend whole year, in some small way to prepare for the festival, collecting peacock feathers in the forest, making props etc. The initiation for the festival beg
