Yellow Lilium wallichianum of Bhutan

L. wallichianum or the Wallichianum Lily is a true species lily and bulbous plant native to the Himalayas. This flower is named after Dr. Nathaniel Wallich, early 19th century Danish plant hunter, botanist and physician. It can be easily identified by its stiff green stems that are ringed purple and bear linear to lance-shaped, deep green leaves. Has umbels of up to 4 large, very fragrant, trumpet-shaped, white or cream flowers, tinged yellow or green. Wallichianum prefers moist and acidic soil, flowers during spring and fall. The Eastern Himalayas have long been renowned for the wealth of their flora. Botanists the world over have travelled to this region to study them.
