At most Hindu religious ceremonies, the ganidha or marigold is used to make garlands and adorn the statues of gods and goddesses or to put onto the necks of humans, including grooms and others being honoured. The marigold is thus India's favourite religious and ceremonial flower. Marigold flowers are used to make floral rangolis or then hung from buildings or scattered as petals on the ground. People buy these from wholesellers at flower markets such as ah Ghazipur Mandi in Delhi. Gainda is grown along the banks of the Yamuna river in Delhi and all across the country, being an easy to grow flower.
