The traditional Rija Festival of the Cham people has held annually on the occasion of their traditional New Year to pray for favorable weather conditions and bumper crops. They sacrifice animals on the fifth and the sixth day of the festival along with the other local specialties such as Rice, Banana, Coconuts and candles which are also offered. When the beat of the drum is heard the head of the village performs a ceremony which is followed by various folk music and dances. The India-ASEAN Commemorative Summit was the occasion for the Ramayana Festival by ASEAN countries which was held in New Delhi from 20-24 January 2018, at Kamani Auditorium. This was organized by ICCR or the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the premier Indian governmental body that organizes cultural festivals and
