Hari Dang talks about his expedition to climb Mt. Everest. It was while we were trying to get down into the great crevice that a serac on which Nawang Hila and Nawang Chaudhary - and I was belaying them with Nima from behind, that the crevice broke away and they almost fell hanging into the crevice. We managed to pull them back out again and went back to camp one. I remember Chau's smile as he said "Hari, we almost had it!" So I said "No, this is normal, the ropes are there!" After this there were only normal crevices which required the basic aluminum ladders and we were able to make it through the western cwm into camp three which was at the foot of the south col and Lhotse face. We were going by the route which has been successfully climber by the British and attempted by the Swiss. The
