Women pick tea leaves and then have it weighed and get paid by how much they pick. Women are the primary workers at the plantations. Tea pluckers weigh the leaves they have harvested at the Sangsua Tea Estate plantation in Assam. Pluckers have a target to full their basket. They earn around Rs. 120 per day. The hundreds of lush green tea-gardens nestling in the Himalayan foothills of Assam have not only added charm to the states natural beauty but also forms the backbone of its economy.
