A resident of Kumaon in Uttarakhand, who now lives and works in New Delhi (like many other Uttaranchalis, he has moved to the plains for employment) goes back to his home-town and village to get married in the summer of 2014. Wilderness Films India was there to document the marriage for a worldwide audience to witness this age-old cultural practice... Kumaoni weddings are very simple but are solemnized with a number of rituals and traditions. In the villages and in interiors traditionally, a white flag called 'Nishan' leads the marriage procession representing the bridegroom, followed by drummers, pipers and a white palanquin carrying the groom.
